Michael Desaulniers currently serves as Director of Gerson Preston’s Valuation and Transfer Pricing practices. Before joining the firm in 2004, he was a quantitative analyst and trader in the futures and equity markets, making him a rare public accounting valuation professional who has years of experience in risking capital based on his valuation models.

History & Education

In his years at the firm, Mike has valued various types of business entities including private family-owned businesses, private multiple-investor businesses, professional practices and joint ventures. He has also valued many forms of business interests/assets including general and limited partnership interests, limited liability company membership interests, minority interests, 50 percent interests, licensing agreements, trademarks, technology IP, and franchises. Mike performed these valuation and economic analyses for the following purposes: tax planning and compliance (ad valorem, income, gift, and estate), forensic analysis and dispute resolution, eminent domain, transaction planning, and management information and strategic planning.

Mike also consults with the firm’s multinational clients and oversees Gerson Preston’s services covering a broad range of transfer pricing issues.

Gerson Preston’s valuation and transfer pricing clients include middle market/SME’s in a wide range of industries such as real estate, insurance, precision manufacturing, medical device, telecommunications, investment management, hospitality, and technology.

Mike holds the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts – Designation “CVA” Certified Valuation Analyst. He graduated magna cum laude in Economics and Psychology from Harvard College.
