Mr. Rohatiner is also an attorney and joined the firm in 1998 after graduating with honors from the University of Miami School of Law, where he specialized in taxation. He was awarded the book award in International Finance Law. Mr. Rohatiner started his career with a top four accounting firm in NYC and worked with a powerhouse investment bank after graduating from Boston University, School of Management, with honors. Boston University is considered one of the premier schools in the country for international studies.

Mr. Rohatiner worked at the US Tax Court, Washington, D.C. His experience working directly with a US Tax Court Judge, provided insight into US tax administration and tax policy. This insight is valuable for guidance and counsel to clients. 

Mr. Rohatiner is one of the Founders of the Miami – Dubai Chamber of Commerce, where he can apply his deep knowledge of international tax. The Miami – Dubai Chamber of Commerce facilitates business between two global gateways, Miami and Dubai.

He is a valuable speaker on tax law providing clients, members of the firm and trade organizations, tax planning opportunities and the latest compliance requirements. Using his knowledge, Stuart teaches education classes for CLE credits in real estate taxation to attorneys in the Florida Bar Tax Section and teaches financial literacy education at Alonzo & Tracy Mourning Senior High. He has been quoted in national financial publications and all over the US by the Associated Press, in the Wall Street Journal and Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Tradition and Expertise

Stuart Rohatiner brings more than 25 years of experience and achievements to Gerson Preston. He has extensive working relationships with the firm’s various international and domestic clients and his areas of concentration include tech entrepreneurs, sports and entertainment, real estate taxation, inbound and outbound international transactions, high net worth individuals, pre-immigration planning for individuals moving to the US and tax planning for change of residency status to U.S. Domestic. 

Stuart is highly proficient in using tax research software programs to solve complex tax issues for the firm’s clients. Recently, he has been working on responsible artificial intelligence (“AI”) initiatives at the firm to provide faster client service and more efficient workflow. He advises international and domestic corporations, business owners and investors on tax-efficient structures and transactions to save or lower taxes on international joint ventures, acquisitions, sale of businesses and recapitalizations.

Mr. Rohatiner has helped international clients come into U.S. tax compliance through various IRS programs & worked on litigation matters as an expert advising on accounting irregularities and frauds.

SOCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS

Giving Back to The Community

Passionate about financial literacy, he implemented the Miami Job Summer Connect/Overtown Youth Center Summer Internship Program at the firm providing Miami youth from the inner city with the opportunity to obtain work experience and accounting skills. Over the years, he has also organized financial literacy seminars, classes, and presentations from finance professionals at Miami-Dade high schools, universities, community centers, not-for profits and professional sports teams.

Stuart is a Trustee to the FICPA Scholarship Foundation and is a committee member of the International Tax Conference. In addition, he recently drafted curriculum for the Florida Bar/FICPA financial literacy education seminar for young professionals working in law or accounting. 

He is an active member of Temple Beth Shalom on Miami Beach and a long-time Miami Heat season ticket holder.
